More Than Serving Tea

One Chapter Ends. What Will the Next Chapter Be?

The Deadly Viper website is down.

To our Friends and Family:

Due to an unfortunate conflict that arose around our use of Asian American themes, we have decided to close this chapter of Deadly Viper Character Assassins. This decision has been a very difficult one for us and one that we did not take lightly.

For the past 2 years we have had the honor to be part of an incredible movement of advocating for radical integrity and grace. We have been deeply humbled hearing your stories of how Deadly Viper has impacted your life, family, and relationships.

We and our team will continue to commit our lives to the message of integrity, grace, and most of all becoming People Of The Second Chance.

We thank you for your prayers, support, and kindness through this season.

We love you.

    Melody,

The Zondervan release was to the general public and those offended. I’m guessing that includes you.

To critique and be offended by an apology when two authors have to shut down an online community that was beloved by thousands (and cost the authors thousands of dollars and years of work.) The DV site statements starts “To our friends and family.”

Have some class and grace, and know when you’re being addressed and when you’re not.

Just when I was feeling so up: ah well, …

I dislike their use of the words “conflict” and “themes” and their lack of the word “gender” but I can’t kick them when they’re down. But I don’t perceive that they “get it” from this statement.

The letter from Zondervan seemed to be a better use of apology, and a straight up acknowledgment of mistakes and need for learning.

Today on my blog: Apology and Forgiveness.
